Gold Coast and Brisbane 2

Natalie, Ben, Jane, Ashley and I travelled to Sunshine state, Queensland last month.
Situated in the North-East of Australia.
We visited the capital city, Brisbane and the famous tourism spot, Gold Coast.
We wanted to bring our boyfriend and we planned to celebrate Ben's birthday there.
We are all friends and this idea popped up during a gathering that we should all travel together.
Too bad, the other 3 guys couldn't make it.
Ben made it and that was the most important thing because this trip was planned for him.
He's like a dad to Jane, Ashley and me, Natalie is like a mum to us, lol.
It was a family trip!

Let's start with travelling to Australia.
In my post about travelling to Perth, I mentioned that we,
Malaysians need a tourist visa to enter the border of Australia.
You can get it done for around RM60 on this website :
It only takes 1-2days to get your tourist visa approved.
This tourist visa lasts you for a year.
A maximum of 3 months stay every visit.

Then, you need an air ticket to get to Gold Coast/Brisbane.
I always pick Air Asia because it is the best budget airlines.
Very reasonable and affordable price to pay.
Last month, Air Asia X was doing a promotion to fly to Gold Coast for only RM349 one way.
Subscribe to their newsletter and get notified about promotions.

DAY ONE.
It's an eight-hour flight to Gold Coast from KL.
I slept through the whole flight.
We checked in Soul Apartments at Surfers Paradise.

Nice hotel with the perfect view.
Day and night.

This has got to be the best buffet breakfast I've ever had so far.
Bazaar Marketplace at QT Hotel, Gold Coast.
You ask for varieties, they give it to you, lol.
Let me show you my favourite section- cereal, muesli, yogurt, oats, dried fruits.

The waffle, crunchy and crispy but soft inside, ahhhhh, heaven.
Guess which plate is mine? -I gave it away for this one.

These chocolate croissants are the bomb!
It's a weird combination with the apricot but I love apricot, haha.

After filling our stomach up, it was time for some fun!!!
Jet boating at Paradise Jet Boat Tour.
It was so fun, I loved it when our guide did the 360 degree spin and the high speed drifting.
It's like a roller coaster ride/high speed car ride on water.
What was even better, he's very good looking, lol.

"Family" portrait with our raincoat on.

We were super lucky because we saw dolphins through Marine Park.
Jane paid big bucks for dolphin watching at Maldives but she didn't even see one dolphin.
Ashley loves dolphins because she's the same species, hahahahaha!

Spot the 4 bananas at the front, lol.

We shopped around Marina Mirage shops.
Took some vain pictures with such a spectacular view.

Walked to Palazzo Versace for Couture High Tea.

Peerless marbles, hand crafted mosaics, vaulted ceilings with detailed design.
Every corner of the hotel makes you go wowww, I repeat, every, corner.
An antique chandelier at the lobby makes me want to sing
"I'mmmm gonna swingggggggggg from the chandelier..."
It's an antique, I better not break it.

Couture High Tea at Le Jardin.
Definitely a great place to chill with your girl friends.

Spectacular waterfront setting.
Tyga shot a music video here.

Queen Beyonce slept on this bed before.
I touched it!!!!!!!!!

Rollin' in a Rolly.
Yes, I wanted to roll in it, lol.

SkyPoint Climb at Sky Point.
Australia's highest external building walk.
We sorta made Ben do it, he's afraid of heights.
Proud of him, he did it, he was steady, he just gripped the handrail tighter than all of us, ahaha.
I wasn't afraid at all because safety precautions/measures are taken seriously.
I was wearing video-camera-sunglasses to film the girls but my cap covered 1/3 of the footage.
The girls gave me a hard time for my mistake, lol.
I stole some pictures from Jane's blog because I didn't have my camera with me to take selfies.

I went first, #yolo.
It felt like the whole Gold Coast was under my feet.
We also saw whales overlooking the sea.
Yes, WHALES.
Should have really bought lotto during my trip, feelin' lucky!

It was dinner time!
Hurricane's Grill is a must-try.

DAY TWO.
We got up at 3.00am for hot air balloon ride with Hot Air Gold Coast!!!

That morning was cold and it was an hour drive to the destination, quite outback.
I recommend you guys to wear something very casual, long pants and bring a thick jacket.
It's cold when you're on the ground, once you get up on the hot air balloon, it's hot because
of the heated air from the open flame to get the balloon flying.
So, when you're up there, you can take your jacket off.
Wear your old shoes, avoid wearing heels/sandals.
I wore my brand new white Puma x Stampd Trinomic for the first time.
I had to walk on wet grass, dumb, hahaha T_T

It's interesting to watch how the hot air balloon pilots work to inflate the balloon.

Up up here we go!
Check the view!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are like my nephew's toy cars.

Two men proposed to their girlfriend, so cute!!!
Should have bought lotto, why didn't I think of buying lotto?
What a special experience having to witness two proposals on a hot air balloon ride.
Indescribable experience!

This is my favourite picture from my hot air balloon ride.
Not only God's creation is mighty but human's creations are impressive too.

Then, we headed to Canungra Valley Vineyard for breakfast!
Enjoy some vine early in the morning overlooking the vineyard.
That's life, man.

Do head over to Jane's, Nat's or Ashley's blog for more pictures.
We took so many pictures using 4 cameras.
Hahaha, I can't find our #FRIENDS4EVA #FRIENDS4LYFE pictures.
They are in Jane's camera, I guess.

It was Ashley's favourite time.
DREAMWORLD GOLD COAST THEME PARK AUSTRALIA
Ashley is the youngest and she never grows up, she loves her Adventure Time.
She always asks me to be Jake, so she can be Finn =,=

Jane, Ashley and I love extreme stuff, 95% pumped all the time, Nat is alright, about 70%.
Ben at 20% tolerance, lol, +20% since he got up to SkyPoint and Hot Air Balloon with us.
No pictures about the rides but you can watch our video at the end of this blog post.
We took turns to tape Go-Pros on our hand and film our rides.
Some rides we pretended to sleep, some rides we tried to keep a straight face but failed miserably.
Watch it and imagine you're on the tour with us :)

Needed some caffeine to lift my eyelids when I first arrived at Dreamworld.
Man, Gold Coast serves good coffee.

I love love love Dreamworld's Wildlife Park.
I didn't want to leave.

Kangaroos just chillin'

 BABY KOALA.
I CAN NOT.

Koala Bella.
It rhymes...

The star of Dreamworld, meet Kai!

Dinner at Clifford's Grill and Lounge at Watermark Hotel.
Loved the ambience.
Service was good, food was delightful.
The truffle mashed potato is my favourite.

DAY THREE.
Mt Tamborine, 30minutes drive away from Gold Coast.
I love Mt Tamborine, the air is fresher there, I don't know why.
It feels like home, it feels like you can have the most relaxing holiday here.
There are so many activities you can do here.
To enjoy Mother Nature.
Rainforest, Tamborine Mountain Glow Worm Caves, vineyard, winery,
cooking school, thunderbird park++

We paid a visit to Jasmin Skincare.
Australia's purest organic skincare farm and factory.

A picture with Lavenders.

Pretty flowers along Gallery Walk.

We went for a short walk at Curtis Falls Track.
A stroll among the birds, flowers, plants and trees.

Tamborine cooking school was the best part of the visit to me.
We learnt to cook using the best ingredients produced locally.
We prepared a multi course themed lunch menu, "Best of Tamborine".
I brought home a new enthusiasm to cook, lol.

Sent this picture to my boyfriend titled "Wife Material", lolllll.

Little did you know that I used to be a hospitality + culinary student (major in pastry).
I'm always curious about how certain dishes are prepared.
Our chef, Terri professionally answered all my culinary questions!

A wonderfully laid table overlooking the Scenic Rim.

I like this feeling of being on top of the world.
Can you spot someone paragliding in this picture?
I want to do that one day!

So many #FriendshipGoals unlocked throughout this trip.
Travel to Queensland with your friends and DO ALL THE CRAZY THINGS, #YOLO!

You never miss a photo opportunity with such a backdrop.
Wait, it's not a backdrop, it's a real background.
Pose like you mean it.

Another highlight of the day.
Dinner at Bonita Bonita.
It's quite a "hide-out" place, so here's the address.
2460 Gold Coast Hwy, Mermaid Beach QLD 4218, Australia.
Modern Mexican food, made with love, haha.

I love the atmosphere and ambience here.

Must try their cocktails, guacamole, chocolate and chili fondant.
Portions are quite big, reasonable pricing.
This is special on the menu.
Pork belly tortilla.
If they still have it, you need to try itttttttt!!!

DAY FOUR.
I wish we did more cafe hopping.
Australia is famous for cafe hopping.
Thanks to Kate for bringing us here for breakfast.
Paddock Bakery.
Hibiscus Haven, Miami QLD 4220, Australia.

Freshly baked sourdough.
"Toad in a Hole" and Ashley's favourite Acai Berry Bowl.

Then, it was time for Stand Up Paddle Boarding with GO Vertical SUP.
I don't have any pictures of myself paddle boarding.
I was having too much fun.
I wish we could go farther but the wind was too strong.
Remember that safety always comes first, there's always next time.
I expected Jane to fall because she's quite bad at balancing.
Nobody fell into the water that day, I wished someone did, hahaha.

Ash and I were no where to be found.
We were competing.

We walked from Tallebudgera Creek along the Burleigh Headland National Park trails
towards Burleigh Heads for lunch.

Magnificent view!

I like being close to nature but I don't like being chased by turkey.
Maybe the turkey wasn't chasing me, just being friendly but I freaked out, haha.
I uploaded it on my Facebook page, go check it out if you have not seen it, lol.

The Fish House for lunch.
I've heard so much about you, The Fish House.
50 Goodwin Terrace, Burleigh Heads QLD 4220, Australia
The best available ingredients, purchased daily from all over the world.
Influenced by Southern Europe, one of the finest seafood restaurant in Gold Coast.

As expected, fishes are fresh, oysters are fresh, all the seafood are fresh.

I don't know about you but I've got crazy girlfriends.

If you miss my first post about Gold Coast and Brisbane, you can read it here:
http://www.daphnecharice.com/2015/11/gold-coast-and-brisbane-1.html
Made a video about annoying my girlfriends, lol.

Meet Kate.
Thanks for the great time!

Shopping timeeeeeee...
I had been waiting to shop.
I like to collect sneakers.
I eye-d on a few pairs that I was hoping to get in Australia.
We went to Pacific Fair Shopping Centre.
It was the largest shopping centre in Queensland and will regain its title next year.
I saw construction and renovation going on but yeh, it was huge enough.
So many specialty stores with brands I love that you can't get in Malaysia.
I went crazy at Lush.
The best was Stussy undergarments and Stussy wear.
I also found Nike Air Force 1 in my size.
It's all over my Instagram, go check it out @daphnecharice.

Don't you think that time passes extremely fast when you're shopping? Haha.
We went back to our hotel to get ready for Miami Marketta.
A street food market from with street food of all nationalities.
Thanks Kate for putting this in the itinerary just cause I love music!
Got to watch The Waifs play live.
I love love love live performances.
Feel so grateful that I go around the world and watch talented musicians play their music.
I'll keep doing this because music makes me happy.
Spend your money on experiences that you'll never forget.
Do it for the love of music, the love of nature, the love of adventure, the love of food.

DAY FIVE.
Gold Coast is renowned for the beach, the surfing, the sun.
What's even more known?
Gold Coast is famous for fun, Gold Coast famous for skydiving!
It was planned to be done that morning but the weather was bad.
It was very windy, we couldn't do it because safety always comes first!
I was very upset, in fact, extremely saddened, haha.
Jane and I always wanted to do it, so badly, together.
We almost had the chance to tick this off our bucket list.
Wait, skip all the drama, we did get to do it! Hahaha!

We thought we couldn't go for skydive.

Bae and yours truly.

Ashley never looked this pretty before.

Coolangatta Beach.

Oh ya, want to mention about our driver, Kenny with Perfect Tours Australia.
He's very helpful and friendly, moreover he's funny!!!
He took good care of us, dropping us around, providing useful information.
Our car ride never gets boring.
Look for him, Kenny from Prefect Tours Australia if you need a tour bus when you travel in groups!

Lunch at Currumbin Vikings Surf Life Saving Club with such a view.

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary up next!
I don't think I'll ever get tired of carrying koalas.
They are so ADORABLE!

We headed to Harbour Town after that.
Harbour Town incorporates multiple factory outlets in one centre, especially popular with tourists.
There's one in Perth, I used to go there all the time.
You find great bargains there, latest fashion at cheaper prices.
Harbour Town Gold Coast carries more brands that I could imagine.

I lost my mind.
I found this pair of white Nike Air Rift in Nike outlet store.
What? Seriously?
Only got them for less than AUD100.
What a steal!
More Calvin Klein undergarments, 30% 50% some with 70%, my goodness!

I bought more but they can't fit it this picture, so yea.

We went to Mamasan Kitchen and Bar for dinner to end the day.

DAY SIX.
WE GOT TO BOOK SLOTS FOR SKYDIVING!
Weather was clear, we were super excited.
Ben didn't go for it.
1.You can give your friend a push but never force them to do it.
We gave Nat a push and she decided to take up the challenge.
We got dressed and we were briefed.

2.Bring a hair tie if you have long hair.
You can untie it after pulling the parachute.

3.Let the "scary cat" go first.
We planned that it was either Jane and I to go first.
Nat was the most fearful one, she didn't want to go last, she wanted to go third.
We told our instructors and they let Nat go first, HAHAHA.
It was unexpected, we went up, I thought I was going to jump first but she disappeared in seconds!
Lol, that was the way to do it because she might not want to jump after waiting us.
Just do it, let the most fearful one go first!

4.This is my biggest mistake.
My boyfriend told me not to open my mouth because my saliva might flow out of my mouth.
I smiled without showing my teeth, it was hard for me to breathe too.
Wrong!
To get the perfect picture :
You must smile
showing your teeth but not open your mouth.
My pictures all looked boring because I tried to keep my cool for pictures, lol.
Just go crazy, scream all you want!

Ok this is how it goes.
Head to the airport to board a plane, lol.
A beautiful scenic flight to height.

12000feet without a door.
It's cold up there.
Cutting through clouds, I put my foot out to "feel" the clouds.

The ones who go first sit nearest to the door.

Goggles on, hair up.
Put your feet out, sit at the exit.
BUH-BYE

Your boyfriend isn't always right.
HAHAHAHAHA.
Keep your eyes open and give it a big smile!!!

5.You ears might hurt, mine hurt a lot but they will only hurt for a while during free fall.
Wait till the parachute is pulled, start blowing air or yawning, your ears will be ok.

HAHAHAHAHAHA.
My pictures are hilarious!
I have only two pictures showing my teeth.

Free fall for about 20-30seconds.
Quite hard to breathe because the speed is too fast.

I don't know how to describe the feeling.
You know how when you go on a roller coaster, you feel the heart drop when
the roller coaster abruptly falls from the very top?
Ya. That heart drop.
Skydiving doesn't give you the heart drop feeling, hahaha.
but you definitely get the adrenaline rush.
It's like a peaceful drop at high speed.
You feel like a bird flying at 120km/h, lol.
Rushing through the air and cutting through clouds.
 WHAT A TRILL!

Parachute pulled!
I was covering my ears because my ears hurt but I was still super stoked!
I couldn't stop smiling.

Check the breath-taking view!
This is really the whole Gold Coast under my feet.
Utterly stunned by the beauty of Gold Coast.
The excitement is indescribable that I can't put in words.
It's an experience of a lifetime, it's an experience that you'll never forget.
You have to experience it yourself.

I was singing
"I believe I can fly"
I was really flying.

Soaring through the clouds in the sky of Gold Coast.

We did skydiving with Gold Coast Skydive.
78 Musgrave St, Coolangatta QLD 4225, Australia.
They are very professional.
They also have got a great sense of humour to lighten up the mood.

It was thrilling, it was just amazing!
I'm lost for words.

Jane and I ticked skydiving off our bucket list.
What's better? We did it with Nat and Ash too!
"FrienshipGoals" Game: Strong right here!

We got ourselves together, then we packed for Brisbane.
It was my first time visiting Brisbane.
Something different, we are going to a modern big city.
The capital city of Queensland, Brisbane.
It's not far away from Gold Coast, it's only 1-2 hours drive.

This blog post is getting a little TOO long.
I'll do a photolog for Brisbane.

Checked in: NEXT Hotel.
Queen Street Mall, Brisbane, QLD, 4000, Australia.

Jimmy's On The Mall

Special cocktails with the view of Brisbane city.

 Pony Dining.
8/45 Eagle Street, Brisbane QLD 4000, Australia
 Happy birthday, daddy Ben!

Heya Bar.
351 Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley QLD 4006, Australia.
A very edgy bar, inspired by the street markets and bars of South East Asia.
Best part of the day because we were hammered that night! Hahaha!
Thanks to Vanessa, we played "I Have Never", I love this game.

Pretty cocktails.

DAY SEVEN.
Cafe hopping at Paddington.
Paddington is located on a number of steep ridges and hills.
Houses are built on stumps, owing to the steep nature of blocks.
It makes Paddington so special and appealing to people.
There is also a strong coffee culture here.

Chapter IV.
180 Latrobe Terrace, Paddington QLD 4064, Australia

Are you going to blog about your recent Las Vegas trip also... and I also miss you sharing good novels and music!!! You're my favourite blogger.
